B i o g r a p h y

Yuiko Ohoka started taking piano lessons at the age of six in Japan, and moved to the U.S. in the summer of 2001. She continued her piano studies under the directions of Nancy Daggett Jensen, Yumi Tayama, and Dr. Gwendolyn Mok. Ms. Ohoka holds a B.M. and M.M  in Piano Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Prof. Yoshikazu Nagai. Following graduation, she is enjoying teaching and collaborating with musicians in the Bay Area.

 

Throughout her musical career, she has participated in many competitions and won prizes including Second Prize and Honorable Mention at CAPMT Concerto Competition, Finalist at Coeur d'Alene Symphony's National Young Artist Concerto Competition, and Finalist at the Eastern Music Festival Concerto Competition. Ms. Ohoka has also been selected to perform on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C ., and was also chosen to perform in the Young Artist Concert Series during the Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival in Italy. In the summer of 2013, Ms. Ohoka was invited to perform Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major with the ensemble En Herbe  in Japan.

 

Ms. Ohoka has taken private lessons and master classes  with numerous concert pianists including John Perry, Dean Kramer, Ruth Slenczynska, James Giles, Jura Margulis, Daniel Shapiro, Boris Slutsky, Awadagin Pratt, Rebecca Penneys, and Logan Skelton.

大岡結子(おおおか ゆいこ)、カリフォルニア生まれ。 1歳半で帰国後、11歳の時に父の仕事の関係で再びカリフォルニアへ。それ以来カリフォルニアに在住。サンフランシスコ音楽院修士課程修了。2009年ジョン・F・ケネディ・センターのミレニアム・ステージにて演奏。2012年Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival(イタリア)に参加、Young Artist Concertに出演。他にEastern Music Festival, Summit Music Festivalなどの夏期講習会に参加。これまでにピアノを服部真紀子、Nancy Jensen、田山由美、Gwendolyn Mok、Yoshikazu Nagai各氏に師事。
